Graduation Checklist
All students must fill out an Application for Graduation in order to receive their degree, diploma, or certificate. Degree information will not be posted to a transcript and a diploma will not be sent if you fail to do so.
How to apply:
- Students can contact the Office of Academic Records to apply for graduation or they can submit the
following graduation application online:

- Make an appointment with your academic advisor to review
your degree requirements. If you are an online student, please
contact your advisor to review
your degree requirements.
- Verify that all requirements are complete:
- Have you earned a minimum number of semester hours
to apply for graduation? (90 hours for a four-year degree,
32 hours for a two-year degree)
- Have you maintained a minimum Grade Point Average?
(Contact the department chair of your major, your advisor
for the minimum GPA of your major or refer to the Dickinson
State University catalog.)
- Have you earned the minimum residency requirement
from DSU? (32 semester hours for a four-year degree,
16 semester hours for a two-year degree.
- Are you attending commencement?
- A formal graduation exercise is held at the end of the spring semester. Students graduating in December 2007, May 2008 and June 2008 are welcome to attend the ceremony in May. Be sure to respond to our letter in the spring of 2007.
- You must have appropriate regalia in order to march in the commencement ceremony.
