The Dickinson State University Foundation, Inc. was organized in 1952 as a non-profit corporation under the laws of the State of North Dakota. All donations to the foundation are tax-exempt for federal income, gift, and estate tax purposes with certain limitations as described by the Code.

The Foundation was established to provide an avenue through which alumni and friends of the University may contribute financially to the University. Gifts, grants, and bequests to the Foundation benefit present and future students by providing scholarship assistance and the funding of special projects not available through funding sources.

The Foundation's purpose is to receive gifts for the University and to hold these contributed funds in perpetual endowment. Only the accrued interest and/or income from the funds is expended unless otherwise designated.

The Foundation is managed by a Board of Directors comprised of leading citizens, both alumni and friends of the University. This board provides direction for the three major functions necessary to carry out the mission of the Foundation: (1)promote giving, (2)management and investment of funds, and (3) allocation of funds.
